2 chickens, wood, steel, rocks, hay and feed, 96” x 60” x 96”
Frontage Gallery, a temporary alternative window space sponsored by the Santa Brarbara Arts Council in California.
The hanging sculpture on the left moved along a track on the ceiling. The top was filled with rocks, the middle water and the bottom with chicken feed. Everyday I would go down to the space and pull this
three layered figure along the track, letting feed out into the trough for the chickens to eat. On the back wall hung the “chicken menu:” corn, sunflower seeds, and chicken mash. The piece evolved from thinking about the transformative and consumptive power of organic materials and processes.
